You are warmly invited to join the Pennine Hills Curlew Choir for a special workshop on July 5th in Hampsthwaite Village Hall from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
We’ll be writing an original song together and rehearsing songs from our existing repertoire.
The first half of the workshop will be led by nature-writer/poet Karen Lloyd.
We’ll work with Karen to write the lyrics for an original song – inspired by curlew.
The second half will be led by composer/musician Peter Cowdrey.
We’ll learn Peter’s new arrangement of our song, ‘The Gather’ – written in 2023 with Mary Keith.
(See below for more details about Karen and Peter)
Following the workshop – there’s the option to perform in Hampsthwaite Church – accompanied by oboe and strings.
We’ll be part of a curlew-themed concert, raising awareness and money for curlew-conservation.
Don’t worry – we’ll be just one small element in a concert of curlew inspired music, poetry and talks, starting at 4:00pm, on the 5th.
As with previous workshops, I’ll provide tea, drinks, biscuits, hot soup, and bread. The food will be vegan and vegetarian. If you have special dietary requirements, please let me know, and I’ll do my best to especially cater for your needs.
The cost of the workshop has been met by Nidderdale National Landscape’s Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme.
However – we request that you donate to curlew conservation, on the day, in line with what you can afford. We will split your donation between several projects.
