Inspired by the Himalayas, it features one of the region’s largest collections of rhododendrons, azaleas, and magnolias, as well as the rare meconopsis blue poppy, thriving in the valley’s distinctive microclimate.

Visitors can wander along undulating paths past tranquil lakes, an arboretum, and vibrant meadows, encountering a diverse array of wildlife.

The park is equally renowned for its large collection of contemporary sculptures (160) by local and international artists, thoughtfully placed to blend with the natural landscape and provide moments of reflection and inspiration.

Families will enjoy the woodland playground and our garden tearoom offering fresh food and homemade treats. Dogs are welcome on short leads. This peaceful, artistic, and botanical haven is ideal for a relaxing day out in the Yorkshire countryside.

Due to steep paths, the terrain may challenge those with severe mobility issues. Please see further accessibility information below.

Please visit their website for opening times and tickets. Cash is not taken on site.

Accessible Accessibility Information
While the Tearoom, Information Centre, Buddha Garden, Plant Centre and Woodland Playground at the top of the park are wheelchair friendly, the topography of the grounds (with steps and steep paths in places) and natural gravel paths, mean the main section of the garden is not accessible to wheelchair or mobility scooter users (unless all terrain varieties which can cope with 16-degree gradients). Any disabled visitor may make use of these upper facilities with disabled parking bays and toilets for free, if unable to access the full garden. Certified carers assisting a visitor to the garden get free entry. They have partnered with the charity Outdoor Mobility who are providing an all-terrain ‘tramper’ mobility scooter for visitors to hire and access the garden. To book the tramper on the day of your visit go to www.outdoormobility.org/himalayan-garden
