A large area of woodland, owned and managed by Yorkshire Water on the western side of the Washburn Valley near Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs.

‘Ings’ is an old Norse word for ‘seasonally flooded land’ and the site is designated as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) due to its rich variety of habitats and wide range of flora and fauna.

Timble Ings Wood offers up to 5 miles (8 km) of accessible trails, which can be extended via the wider wood on less accessible paths.

Tracks in the wood are made from crushed stone and are rutted in certain sections. The route is undulating with some steeper sections. the route can be shortened by turning back at Timble Ings ponds (approx 1.4 miles / 2.3 km out and back).
