Hearing the haunting call of the curlew, seeing pockets of blanket bog on heather moorland, glimpsing dragonflies hovering above ponds, walking through rare wildflower-rich hay meadows or looking up at star-filled night skies – there are plenty of ways to appreciate Nidderdale National Landscape’s precious natural world.

With some of the finest heather moorlands in the country, woodlands and rich farm land, large areas of the Nidderdale landscape are internationally important for conservation because of their rich concentration of rare plants and wildlife.
