Enjoy road and off-road cycling in Nidderdale National Landscape with everything from gentle jaunts to epic climbing routes.
There’s plenty of smile-inducing ways to explore on two wheels with Nidderdale’s miles of quiet roads, bridleways and greenways, all accompanied by beautiful Dales scenery.
For those wanting to hire a bike, have a guided adventure, or get their own bike repaired then specialists like Nidderdale Cycle Hire at Summerbridge or Vern Overton Cycling at Darley can help.
If you want to venture out on the tracks and trails on the Swinton Estate at Masham, the Country Club has electric and non-electric mountain bikes for hire.
We’ve compiled some route suggestions depending on the type of cycling you’re looking for. You can also devise a cycling route of your own using the Harvey Map ‘Yorkshire Dales for Cyclists’ or Ordnance Survey Explorer maps (297 and 298 – cover the majority of the National Landscape).
Please be aware that routes along bridleways and quiet country lanes will also be used by horse riders and walkers. Cyclists must give way to these users and be particularly careful when approaching horses from behind – it helps if you call out to let the horse and rider know that you are there. It is important to pass horses and walkers slowly and wide.
Please follow the International Mountain Biking Association code of conduct and ride responsibly, while showing respect for others, and care for the environment.
