National Landscapes: The Rebrand
National Landscapes: The Rebrand
David Tolcher

Late 2023 started a new chapter for our designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). We have rebranded to Nidderdale National Landscape.

This rebrand was part of a government-funded initiative for all 46 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty across the UK. It marks an important and inclusive next chapter for the entire National Landscapes network.

Why the Rebrand?

The new name, National Landscapes, is simpler and highlights the national significance of these areas. It’s more than just a new brand; it’s a movement to place National Landscapes at the forefront of the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. This rebrand gives us a stronger voice to address these critical issues collaboratively.

Our Mission

We continue our work with the local community, landowners, and farmers to protect and regenerate Nidderdale for everyone to enjoy. Our efforts include:

  • Promoting sustainable land management practices
  • Providing grants and advice
  • Advising on planning issues
  • Developing specific projects

Ambitious Targets

By 2030, we aim to:

  • Ensure 200,000 hectares of valuable natural areas are in favorable condition
  • Create or restore 100,000 hectares of wildlife-rich habitat
  • Plant or regenerate 36,000 hectares of woodland

We also focus on habitat restoration to protect endangered species and increase opportunities for people to enjoy these beautiful places.
