Upper Nidderdale is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. This scenic walk around Woodale and Dale Edge is one of a series of trails which offer the chance to enjoy the contrasting landscapes and fascinating heritage that make Upper Nidderdale such a special place. This route enables you to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Scar House Reservoir, Great Whernside and the Upper Nidderdale moorlands, and walk along the Nidd’s unique dry river bed as the watercourse disappears into limestone caverns deep underground before re-surfacing downstream.

Is This Right For You Is This Right For You?
This is a moderate route over tarmac roads, gravel tracks and fields. Some parts of the trail are uneven with some sections being steep inclines/declines. Gates feature throughout the walk, there are no stiles. Walking boots are advisable as some parts of the trail can be wet, muddy and rough underfoot.

A large gravel layby is available to park in at the start of the route.
Dog Walking Dog Walking
Please be a responsible dog owner. Keep your dog on a lead at all times, especially around livestock and on the moor, where there are ground nesting birds. From March to July, use a short lead. Remember to clean up after your dog.
