Enjoy a countryside walk around Grantley and Sawley featuring Spa Gill Woods and Eavestone Lake.

Enjoy a countryside walk around Grantley and Sawley featuring Spa Gill Woods and Eavestone Lake. This walk can be split into two shorter loops with the longer High Grantley loop (4.8 miles) taking you along Eavestone Lake and through beautiful surrounding farmland and the shorter Sawley loop (3.6 miles) featuring Spa Gill Woods and the ruins of Aldfield Spa.

If you’re doing the shorter Sawley loop or planning to walk the full 9 mile route, start at Step 1 in Sawley Village Hall car park. If you’re walking the High Grantley loop, start at step 10 at Grantley Village Hall.

Is This Right For You Is This Right For You?
A challenging walk along footpaths, roads, grass farmland, tracks, and passing through stiles. The terrain is steep and uneven in places. Walking boots are recommended as some paths can get very muddy in places. Dogs are welcome, please have them on a short lead at all times.
Parking Parking
Starting the route from Sawley parking is available by the village hall. If starting the route from Grantley, parking is limited. There is some on street parking or a small layby next to the children's play area.
Dog Walking Dog Walking
Please be a responsible dog owner. Keep your dog on a lead at all times, especially around livestock and on the moor, where there are ground nesting birds. From March to July, use a short lead. Remember to clean up after your dog.
